This year’s campus Night of Lights celebration will end on a high note with Christmas at Duquesne, a holiday concert presented by the Mary Pappert School of Music.
Night of Lights festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, with Christmas carols at the Duquesne Union, carriage rides on Academic Walk and the opening of Santa’s Workshop in the Africa Room.
President Charles J. Dougherty will officially light up campus at 5:15 p.m. on Academic Walk, and Christmas dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Union Ballroom. The meal is $9 per person and University meal plans, cash and credit cards are accepted.
The free Christmas at Duquesne concert, which will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Power Center Ballroom, will feature performances by:
- The Duquesne Symphony Orchestra, featuring Director of Orchestral Activities Jeffrey Turner, Guest Conductor Dr. Stephen Benham and Student Conductor Sean Rademacher
- The Wind Symphony, featuring Conductor Dr. Robert Cameron
- The Voices of Spirit choral ensemble, featuring Director of Choral Activities Dr. Caron Daley
- The Jazz Ensemble, featuring Program Director of Jazz Studies Mike Tomaro
- The Brass Choir, featuring Brass Area Coordinator James Nova.
In addition, the University’s student organizations will host holiday performances throughout the evening. All collected donations will benefit Autism Speaks.
Night of Lights, in its 19th year, has been presented annually by the University and the Student Government Association.
