What have Drs. Susan Kelly, David Lampe, Sandra Quiñones and Daniel Scheid been up to?
Dr. Susan Kelly, assistant professor of nursing, has been accepted to the National League for Nursing’s yearlong 2016 Leadership Development Program for Simulation Educators, during which she will learn how to use best practices in creating simulation scenarios, implementing simulation, debriefing and evaluation.
Dr. David Lampe, associate professor of biology, and graduate student Nicholas J. Bongio published an article in the Dec. 4 issue of PLOS One, titled Inhibition of Plasmodium berghei Development in Mosquitoes by Effector Proteins Secreted from Asaia sp. Bacteria Using a Novel Native Secretion Signal.
Dr. Sandra Quiñones, assistant professor of education, participated in a Nov. 5 meeting of Amachi Pittsburgh at Phipps Conservatory for the community kick-off event of the fifth annual Conference on Higher Education in Prison, which explored incarceration and education justice activism in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Daniel Scheid, assistant professor of theology, presented The Journey of the Universe and the Cosmic Common Good at the annual conference of the American Academy of Religion in Atlanta on Nov. 19. He also presented Protecting Planet Home: The Moral Vision of Laudato Si’ at Siena College and Central Catholic High School in November.
