What have Drs. Kent Moors and Darius D. Prier been up to?
Dr. Kent Moors, professor of political science and scholar in residence for the Institute for Energy and the Environment, will serve as executive chair for the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh’s committee for the spring 2014 Global Energy Symposium. The symposium is expected to draw together some of the world’s top energy experts from government, industry, academia and nonprofits to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the global energy market, public policy and Pittsburgh’s role in this sector.
Dr. Darius D. Prier, assistant professor in the School of Education’s Department of Foundations and Leadership, received the 2013 School of Education Early Career Faculty Award for Scholarship, based on excellence in scholarship through publications, presentations and papers.
Prier’s text, Culturally Relevant Teaching: Hip-Hop Pedagogy in Urban Schools (2012) was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for the American Educational Studies Association and published during his first year as a tenure-track faculty member. Additionally, Prier was selected as a 2012-2013 fellow in the nationally recognized Education Policy Fellowship Program, which combines scholars, practitioners and policy advocates working for youth, families and schools across the state and the nation.
