The University’s Department of Public Safety and the Office of Multicultural Affairs have once again partnered with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to host a session of Cops and Kids Summer Camp, which kicked off on the Bluff on Monday, July 25.

During this free, weeklong program, local children ages 10 to 14 are given the opportunity to learn about law enforcement and public safety, form friendships, build self-esteem and experience positive interactions with police officers.

While at Duquesne on Monday, the young participants received orientation to the program, a tour of our campus, participated in a session that addressed gang violence and finished the day with outdoor gym activities. Off-campus activities throughout the week include visits to Highmark Stadium, Heinz History Center, Pittsburgh Zoo, Carnegie Science Center and swimming at Highland Park.
