Faculty and staff are invited to help combat hunger by participating in a service project at the next Libermann Luncheon.

The lunch, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 8, at noon in the Africa Room, will include an opportunity for attendees to create ‘blizzard bags’ for Hazelwood Meals on Wheels program participants. The bags, which contain shelf stable non-perishable food items, will serve as emergency food supplies for participants when inclement weather cancels regular delivery service.

Meals on Wheels representative Jim Moore will speak at the luncheon about his experiences working with the organization and share how food insecurity is affecting senior citizens in local communities.

Supplies for the bags will be provided by Spiritan Campus Ministry. Those who wish to donate non-perishable food items are asked to bring low sodium canned soup, small packs of fruit and applesauce, crackers, macaroni and cheese, instant oatmeal, cans of tuna and spam, raisins, pasta noodles and sauce.

To attend, RSVP by Friday, Nov. 4, at caloriem@duq.edu.
