Duquesne University Dining’s efforts have again been recognized by The Daily Meal, an online publication that reports on dining news and trends, and Peta2, the world’s largest youth animal rights organization.
For the third consecutive year, The Daily Meal has ranked Duquesne University among the 75 Best Colleges for Food in America. After considering more than 2,000 American colleges, the publication ranked Duquesne at No. 69.
Criteria for the ranking included accessibility and service; nutrition and sustainability; education and events; the surrounding area; and the “X” factor. According to The Daily Meal, the ranked universities are located throughout the United States and stand out because “a greater attention to feedback, advances in technology, an emphasis on healthy options and environmental awareness.”
For the second year in a row, Duquesne has been graded A+ with Dean’s List recognition from Peta2 on their Vegan Report Card. The University is one of only two Pennsylvania schools to receive this grade and the highest in satisfaction rating with the designation
According to Peta2, the University’s designation can be contributed to the efforts of Duquesne Dining’s Hogan Dining Center’s V2 station, which offers vegan-friendly menu items on a daily basis; vegan-friendly menu offerings at every dining location on campus; a vegan and vegetarian food committee; and promotion of vegan-friendly events and offerings throughout the school year.
