‘Washington Post’ Blogger to Address Militarization of Police

The author of a thought-provoking book that questions the proper role and constitutionality of law enforcement present a free lecture sponsored by the Federalist Society student organization.

Radley Balko, a blogger for The Washington Post, will present Militarization of Police and Its Effect on Civil Liberties on Monday, April 7, from 12 to 1 p.m. in Room 308 in the School of Law.

Balko, who blogs about criminal justice, the drug war and civil liberties, is the author of Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militarization of America’s Police Forces. His work has been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court and the Mississippi Supreme Court.

In addition to previously working at the Huffington Post, Reason magazine and FoxNews.com, Balko was a policy analyst at the Cato Institute.
