An upcoming lecture at Duquesne will address the use of new war tactics and technologies, including targeted killing and armed drones, in light of Catholic ethics.
Law, Ethics and the New Technology of War, slated for Wednesday, March 15, will feature Dr. Mary Ellen O’Connell, the Robert and Marion Short Professor of Law and Research Professor of International Dispute Resolution at the University of Notre Dame. The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Charles J. Dougherty Ballroom of the Power Center.
O’Connell has authored numerous books on this topic, including What Is War? An Investigation in the Wake of 9/11 and The Power and Purpose of International Law.
The event is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and is co-sponsored by the Departments of English, Political Science and Theology, and the Center for Catholic Faith and Culture.
