Duquesne faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in 11 Days of Peace, a celebration that promotes awareness of unity, justice, forgiveness and peace in commemoration of 9/11 and in preparation of the International Day of Peace on Saturday, Sept 21. Events are free and open to the Duquesne community.
Wednesday, Sept. 11
- Peace candle lighting, Chapel of the Holy Spirit, noon
- International flag display installed in the Union, courtesy of the Office of International Programs
- Peace display, Gumberg Library
Thursday, Sept. 19
- Peace pledge signing, Gumberg Library Popular Reading Room, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- International Student Speak in an informal setting, describing countries and cultures from five continents, noon to 1 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 21
- International Peace Day
- One Moment of Silence for Peace, asking all to pause at noon for a moment of silence
- Mass for International Day of Peace, Chapel of the Holy Spirit, 5:30 p.m.
In addition, a noon Mass will be held daily throughout the 11 Days of Peace. Prayers for peace will be said at all Masses.
