The annual Duquesne University United Way Campaign, which launched in September, is nearly halfway to reaching its goal of $108,000 to support local families, disabled individuals and seniors in need.
All members of the campus community are invited to pledge online.
Faculty and staff who make a minimum online pledge of $2 per pay by Thursday, Oct. 10, will be invited to Duqtoberfest. This special donor appreciation event, set for Friday, Oct. 11, will feature seasonal food, beverages and prize drawings for those in attendance. These donors also will receive:
- An entry in the October drawing for a pair of tickets to the Sunday, Nov. 3, Steelers vs. Colts game and a certificate for a three-hour sedan car service
- An entry in the November prize drawing for a Starbucks cup a day at the Union location as well as a Duquesne prize package
- An invitation to the Celebrate and Give Thanks donor appreciation reception in November
- An entry for the grand prize drawing for a free annual parking permit at Duquesne.
October and November campaign events include:
- Basket Raffle, Thursday, Oct. 10, Wednesday, Oct. 16, and Friday, Oct. 18: Buy tickets in the Union’s second floor atrium from 12 to 2 p.m. to win a Duquesne Spirit, Game Day Essentials and Date Night baskets. Hosted by the Office of Human Resources.
- Flower and Popcorn Sale (ongoing): Order mums and Pittsburgh Popcorn online by Friday, Nov. 1. Deliveries will be made Monday, Nov. 4. Hosted by the Office of Freshman Development and Disability Services.
- Cops ‘n Chefs BBQ on the Bluff, Tuesday, Oct. 15: Lunch includes either a hickory-smoked hamburger or smoked sweet sausage, baked beans, jalapeno cornbread, a smiley cookie and bottled water. To purchase tickets in advance, see a Public Safety officer or call 412.396.6004. Lunch will be available for pickup between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Academic Walk near the Union. Hosted by the Department of Public Safety and Parkhurst Dining.
- 10th Annual Duquesne University Walk to End Breast Cancer, Friday, Oct. 18: Begins at noon. Registration forms are available online—complete and submit to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion in room 106 of the Union. Same-day registration begins at 11 a.m. on Academic Walk near the Union. The walk is hosted by the Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and sponsored in part by Epsilon Phi, the School of Nursing International Honor Society.
- Walking Taco Sale and Lottery Tree Raffle, Thursday, Oct. 31: Begins at 11 a.m. in room 108 of Canevin Hall and lasts until supplies run out. Hosted by the School of Education.
- Hoagie Sale: Preorder hoagie lunches (Italian, turkey or ham hoagie, bottle of water and bag of chips) by Wednesday, Oct. 30, for pick up Thursday, Nov. 7. Hoagie order forms are available online, by calling 412.396.4853 or by emailing diller@duq.edu. Hosted by the School of Pharmacy.
