Five Canadians who are visiting the Pittsburgh area as part of a business and economic development delegation will be meeting with faculty and students in Duquesne’s MBA-Sustainability Program.
The group, which is part of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, will be on campus Tuesday, April 10. MBA-Sustainability students who recently placed second in a global competition in Davos, Switzerland, will discuss their successful case study to improve sustainability operations at an international oil and gas company.
In addition, the Canadian delegation will meet with; Dr. Robert Sroufe, holder of the Murrin Chair of Global Competitiveness; Tom Nist, director of graduate programs and Donahue Chair in Investment Management; and Diane Ramos, associate director of graduate programs and instructor of leadership and change management.
“We welcome the opportunity to exchange ideas and strategies with our international partners and are particularly excited to have these leaders visit us on campus and hear from our students,” said Sroufe.
“We are very proud of what our students have been able to accomplish as part of their one-year MBA Sustainability program. With students just returning from Germany a couple of weeks ago and preparing for a trip to Latin America in early May, this meeting with North American leaders will add another perspective to their international context.”
The group’s Pittsburgh portion of their five-city trip will focus on:
- Economic forecasting regarding trade issues
- Labor perspectives on trade policy
- U.S.-Canada partnerships in energy production and shale gas exploration
- Innovative strategies for promoting links between Canada and Western Pennsylvania.
