Service-learning scholar Dr. Patti Clayton will present a luncheon workshop, Integrating Critical Reflection to Generate, Deepen and Document Learning in Service-Learning, on Thursday, April 4, from noon to 2 p.m. in Room 613 of the Duquesne Union.

The workshop will focus on the work of Clayton and her colleagues in utilizing their DEAL Model, a research-grounded model for incorporating critical reflection in learning goals. Participants will have the opportunity to review materials on Clayton’s work and to find ways to incorporate it into their own courses.
In addition to the workshop, Clayton will also offer opportunities for individual and small-group consultations on Wednesday, April 3, and on Thursday.
Clayton, a practitioner-scholar experienced in community-engaged teaching and learning, has taught several courses with service-learning components and has consulted with more than 100 campuses nationwide. Clayton has co-authored 40 publications and has recently co-edited the text Research on Service-Learning: Conceptual Framework and Assessment.
