The fifth production this semester for the award-winning Red Masquers theater troupe is David Rimmer’s coming of age comedy, Album.
The performances are scheduled for Thursday, April 16, through Saturday, April 18, and Thursday, April 23, through Saturday, April 25, at 8 p.m. in the Peter Mills Auditorium, Rockwell Hall.
Rimmer’s play follows the lives of two teenage couples during the 1960s. From summer camp to senior prom, the play depicts the perils and triumphs of the foursome as they enter adulthood. Popular music by artists Bob Dylan, The Beatles and The Beach Boys serves as a nostalgic anchor for the audience.
“’Album’ is a fitting farewell to Peter Mills Auditorium,” said John Lane, director of theatre arts, referencing the troupe’s last performances at what serves as their “home” theater. “The play revolves around four teenagers growing older and wiser, and saying goodbye to their youth and innocence. After 102 years, the Masquers are looking forward to saying ‘goodbye’ to their youth and innocence, and maturing and growing in the new Genesius Theater.”
Performances are free for those with a valid Duquesne University ID. Admission is $10 for adults or $5 for non-Duquesne students. For more information, visit the Red Masquers website.
