Music educators and creative collaborators will have the opportunity to explore and celebrate neurodiversity through music at the two-day event, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, and Sunday, Oct. 17, in the Mary Pappert School of Music.

Divergent Musicalities attendees will hear from music educators, musicians on the autism spectrum and experts studying the connections between autism and music.

Through presentations, performances and workshops, participants will learn how to co-create inclusive spaces where musicians across the spectrum of neurological differences can participate, grow and excel in their creative practice.

Saturday’s activities, which include presentations and performances, will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the music school’s PNC Recital Hall. This session is free and open to the public.

Sunday’s session is open only to registered participants and will feature a series of workshops led by speakers, musicians and consultants. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the music school’s Thomas D. Pappert Center for Performance and Innovation.

For more information, including a list of speakers and the COVID-19 protocol for attendees, visit the symposium website or email Elizabeth Fein.
